PROFILE

Mr. Lefkowitz was born in Brooklyn, New York, went to high school in Hollywood, Florida, and received his Bachelor of Arts with High Honors in History from Brandeis University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude, was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and the recipient of the Lila A. Pearlman Memorial Award for research and scholarship in history. He received his Juris Doctorate from New York University School of Law in 1986, having received a Moot Court Advocacy Award for excellence in the moot court competition.

Mr. Lefkowitz was admitted to the California Bar in November 1986. After graduating law school, Mr. Lefkowitz was a law clerk to the Honorable Laughlin E. Waters, United States District Judge for the Central District of California, in downtown Los Angeles. As a law clerk, Mr. Lefkowitz worked with Judge Waters on several written judicial opinions, including, for example, Chalmers v. City of Los Angeles, published at 676 F.Supp. 1515 (C.D. Cal. 1987).

Mr. Lefkowitz formerly was a litigation partner with the national law firm of Beigel Schy & White, where he successfully handled numerous complex litigations of business and securities-related disputes, including several significant class actions. Immediately before that, he was associated with Proskauer, where Mr. Lefkowitz had substantial participation in representing a plaintiff in a major lender liability action, which resulted in a $100 million settlement for plaintiff.

In 1996, Mr. Lefkowitz started Wilshire Palisades Law Group, specializing in complex business litigation. He has special expertise with investment loss cases, securities law matters, legal malpractice cases, wrongful termination and workplace discrimination disputes, and ERISA. This includes experience as lead counsel for plaintiffs and defendants in class and derivative actions and large multi-plaintiff cases, as well as large individual plaintiff actions, in trial and on appeal.
